We’re talking about a country that leads the world in number of citizens incarcerated, right? We’re talking about a country that had no problems at all, not even a little hesitation, in rounding up an entire group of people with zero probable cause and putting them in internment camps, right? We’re talking about a country where xenophobia saw citizens willingly hand over nearly unchecked power for the government to monitor and interfere in their daily lives, right?
